The fellowship program is available to OAA members who have been practicing orthokeratology for at least one year. Fellow candidates must submit an application and five case reports and successfully complete an oral and written examination.
Candidate examinations are being scheduled throughout the United States. The next examination will be at the "Synergy Seminar" presented by the OAA and the Exodus Group in Little Rock, Arkansas;
October 23-25, 2008 at the Hilton Metro. The agenda may be found at: www.theexodusgroup.org
When you apply for fellowship and attend the meeting you will need five (5) case studies brought to the meeting with topography. They should be different cases and at least two of them should show problem solving (the initial fit didn't work and what changes were needed to solve it). During the meeting practical and written testing will be administered. Doctors who need help will receive mentoring. Attendees may receive assistance with filling out necessary forms.
To continue fellowship you will need to submit two additional cases per year, mentor an ortho-k doctor towards fellowship, or give an ortho-k presentation in front of a major conference (such as the annual OAA Educational Meeting).
You must submit your cases on OAA approved report forms. A fee of $450 U.S. must accompany the application. You may download and print these pdf forms and use them for your presentation. It is highly recommended that you download and use the Excel forms for your case reports. This spreadsheet contains both the initial and follow-up forms.
